It's Coming Just For You...

There, just beyond the trees...did you hear that?  Night is coming.  You'd best get ready.

Memories of Dakar...

A travel lover, some time ago I took the opportunity to travel to Senegal and The Gambia.  I knew I'd have a good time, but what I had was an amazing time.  It's a trip I definitely intend to repeat.

I've enjoyed the music of  renowned Senegalese musician, Youssou N'Dour, for many years and was lucky to have seen him in concert at The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.   A particularly special (and rather surreal)  moment was hearing his music being played in Senegal while shopping in Dakar.  Life is magical, man!  If you're unfamiliar, have a listen:

A Bit Early For A Holiday State Of Mind...

Yes, it is a bit early to be in a holiday state of mind.   But I'm up at 12:03 a.m., stumbled across this cool greeting card by Zazzle designer BeeZazzler and had to share.  I love the clean, modern feel of the design and the color palate works brilliantly.

Vanity Is Underrated...

If you're like me, you find plenty of things to beat yourself up about.   The least of which goes a little something like this:  "why oh why did I eat yet another chocolate covered graham cookie?", or "why did I convince myself it was ok to skip my workout last night?", or "why aren't I living the sweet life somewhere exotic, surrounded by fabulousness?".   You're no doubt picking up what I'm putting down.

In the midst of my personal "why's", Michael Jackson came to mind.   Apparently Michael was, in spite of his talented brilliance, a lonely unhappy soul.  And the love of tens of millions of fans didn't mean so much when he could not come to love himself.  All this deep thinking inspired me to pen a haiku, a modern haiku in the name of self love.  A modern haiku fit for a T-shirt:

Can you dig it?

Iconic Maverick...

Incredibly, if John Lennon were alive today he would turn 70.  Time goes by in an instant, does it not?  John's "Watching The Wheels" speaks to the maverick in us all.  Of his amazing catalog of songs, each more brilliant than the last, this one's my favorite:

"If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that’s his problem. Love and peace are eternal."
